Financial Assistance

Bella offers assistance to all prospective students who might qualify for financial aid. We have financial planners to help with your questions.

  1. FEDERAL GRANTS are monies given to people to help pay for school. If you are offered a pell grant, you do not have to pay it back. This is an offer based on financial need.
  2. DIRECT LOANS are borrowed monies through the U.S. Department of Education that must be repaid (with interest).
  3. DIRECT Subsidized Loans are offered to students who show financial need and is interest-free while the student is in school. You must start repaying this loan beginning six months after you leave school.
  4. DIRECT Unsubsidized Loans are available to all students, regardless of financial need. Interest will be charged on his loan while  in school.
  5. DIRECT Plus Loans are only available for parents of Dependent Students.  A credit check will be done and if approved for this loan, the amount will be applied directly to the student’s account. If the loan is denied, the student may apply for the maximum amount available in a Direct Un-subsidized Loan.

    3. Please note that you and your parents (if you are a dependent) will still need to enter some income information;
    4. Go online to www.fafsa.ed.gov and create a FSA ID for your online application
  2. If you are a dependent student, your parent will also need to create a FSA ID to fill out the financial aid application.
  3. If your FSA ID is already established and you forgot your ID, select "I forgot/Don't know my ID" link. Enter your email address and submit security code.
  4. Your FSA ID will be ready to use immediately.

  6. Fill out your FAFSA at  www.fafsa.ed.gov

Alternative loans can provide additional funding to assist students with their education. These are generally provided by banks and credit unions. We can provide you information on Alternative Loan options.

Scholarships are provided by some companies, professional associations, and religious groups to individuals or their family members seeking an education. Searching the internet is a great way to see what might be available to you. Some local libraries even offer free internet usage.

Texas Department of Assistive & Rehabilitative Services (DARS) assists people who have disabilities prepare for, find and keep jobs. To locate an office in your area visit: www.dars.state.tx.us or call 1-800-628-5115.

Veterans Affairs Education Benefits (VA) is available for people who are eligible for veterans benefits. You can download an application form at: www.gibill.va.gov or you may call 1-888-442-4551 to have an application form be mailed to you or for additional questions.

Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF)

Congress passed the Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act to provide some relief from the economic fallout from the Covid-19 pandemic. One element of the CARES Act funding is the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF). This fund is provided to institutions of Higher Education as part of the CARES Act to assist current students for expenses related to disruption to their education due to Covid-19.

Acknowledgment of Funds

Bella Cosmetology and Barber College in Texas has signed and returned to the U.S. Department of Education the Certification and Agreement to receive the Student and Institutional Portion of the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund. The Institution further acknowledges that it will use no less than fifty (50) percent of the funds received under section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to its students.

Instructions to Students

Bella Cosmetology and Barber College has received $242,664 that was allocated to the Institution with $121,332 allocated to assist students through the HEERF program. An estimated 46 students are or could be eligible to participate in the Federal student financial aid program under Section 484 of the Higher Education Act of 1965 , as amended, and thus are eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act. Bella Cosmetology and Barber College will conduct ‘Student Survey’ to indicate the impact Covid-19 has had upon their personal finances and obligations by each individual student to document this impact.

Method of Grant Distribution

Equally distributing the funds allocated to the institution for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students, provides $2637.65 to the 46 students eligible or possibly eligible. Amounts provided to students may increase due to the impact Covid-19 has had on their personal finances and obligations determined by the 'Student Survey' submitted.

 

Reporting
Bella Cosmetology and Barber College is required to report publicly on its website certain criteria as outlined by the U.S. Department of Education. This information will be reported through the instructions and information listed above on this web page and the remaining information not reported above will be posted in PDF format in this section of this web page.

 

July 26,2020 UPDATE

An amount of $37,288.60 has been disbursed to approximately 40 students at the institution as of this date. Additional payments will be made before the first of August, 2020. Grants are issued on a monthly basis to students who remain in SAP, Satisfactory Academic Performance.

 

October 30,2020 Update

An amount of $59,209.97 has been disbursed to approximately 40 students at the institution as of this date. Additional payments will be made before the end of November, 2020. Grants are issued on a monthly basis to students who remain in SAP, Satisfactory Academic Performance.
